Hi, my name is Jaida!
I’m a 14 year old, who lives in North Vancouver, Canada. For my grade 9 school year I’m taking the year off from “normal” school and being homeschooled. I’ve always had the itch to travel but there has never been the perfect time to do it, but now, as a part of my grade 9 curriculum, I’m traveling, so that makes me a worldschooler!
Besides being a worldschooler, I’m also a minimalist and a photographer. But mainly I’m a musician, who loves playing uke, piano, and writing songs. Plus I’m growing my business in teaching ukulele which has been great so far!
What sparked me to want to travel?
When I was 6 I went on my first big trip. We went to Costa Rica for a month, and I fell in love with the tropicalness and coolness of this country, it was like another world to me. After that my family and I starting traveling more and more. We’ve done everything from staying on a permaculture farm that was off the grid and had no toilets, to staying at one of the top honeymoon destinations around the world! It’s been more recently though that I’ve actually had the urge travel, and I think it’s from all the reading I’ve done from worldschoolers and travel bloggers! So now I really want to travel and see the hidden gems of this world.
Why I started Travelscool.com?
There are so many reasons I started this blog. When I heard about worldschooling I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I had a big project/presentation coming up in school and I decided to do it on worldschooling. As I did research about it I noticed that there weren’t many blogs about it from a student worldschoolers point of view they were more from the parents point of view (the only one I found was edventuregirl.com). So now that I’m being worldschooled I decided to start a blog so that people can see what I think of worldschooling and so that I can educate people about it! Aonther reason is because it’s part of my grade 9 curriculum, and I’m learning things like different types of writing, coding, typing and SEO from this website. The goal of this website, is to share my experiences of being worldschooled and, hopefully, help teach others how they can be successful worldschoolers.
Follow me in my adventures as I explore the world and discover new interests.
