Colorado is a great place to visit in fall! With all the amazing colours of the trees, and less crowds than summer, it’s a great time to go!
Fruita
Monday we drove from Moab to Fruita, Colorado. It was only a 2 hour drive and we took the scenic route. Fruita is a small town just outside of Grand Junction. Once we got there we went biking. It was pretty cool up in the hills. To get to the ride we biked up a gradual hill for about 15 minutes then we got to go down hill. The second lap we did Blake, my cousin and I got a ride up in the back of their pick up truck!
We went to 2 restaurants in our 2 nights at Fruita. The first one was a taco place…where I decided I was done with Mexican food for the rest of the trip! (We went to a lot of Taco places!) We also went to a pizza Restaurant called Hot Tomato. Apparently it has the best gluten free crust ever! My dad ordered Blake and I an 18 inch pizza to share, and he got him and my mom each a 14 inch pizza. It was way too much! We had leftovers for days! The town of Fruita is so small! Downtown is about one or two blocks of shops. It’s very cute though. The town is known for biking and is a bike destination.
Fort Collins
We spent 5 nights in Fort Collins, a city just north of Denver, right below Wyoming. We were visiting family there. In Fort Collins we had a lot of down time. It was nice after doing so much in Moab.
Biking: We did lots of great biking in Fort Collins. Lory state park was a fun biking area. At the place we parked there was a small bike park with jumps and a pump track. I actually enjoyed riding there. Blake had an epic fall while doing a jump that my dad got on film! (Blake was fine.) But the video is so funny to watch! We did a good loop of biking on the trails too. It was so pretty. We spent a day going to a bike park in Boulder. The biking area was huge! There were trails, jumps, pump tracks and a race course. We spent 2 and a half hours there (with breaks). Then we drove through the main strip in bolder. It was very crowded! My parents also went riding at riverbend ponds natural area which was apparently beautiful!
Downtown: Downtown is where all the shopping is. We did spend an afternoon strolling the streets. Old town has lots of unique shops and historic architecture, it’s cool over there. When settlers came to Fort Collins in the 1860’s, they settled in old town, which is how it got the name. There have been lots of big events in old town. We stopped in tons of awesome clothing stores, although I didn’t buy anything. And we stopped at a thrift store, where I got part of my Halloween costume! Old town has lots of cool wall art too!
Chilling: As I said earlier, we spent lots of time chilling! Mostly hanging out at my cousins house in one of his many hammocks…so nice. I love hammocks! I got some work done mostly math and blogging.
